Were you always a fan of Hollyoaks before joining the soap?
I was familiar with Hollyoaks although, I wasn't really a massive viewer.
I tried to, however, I was aware of the programme. I would sort of catch
a few minutes of it at home.
Which other films/TV dramas have you featured in?
I've featured in many TV dramas actually. I've featured in
Being Human, The Syndicate, Doc Martin, Waterloo Road and Torchwood.
How long have you been in the acting industry?
I graduated in 1998, so around nearly 20 years ago.
How did you get the job at Hollyoaks?
I have an agency so they managed to find me the audition. I should imagine there
was plenty of actors wanting to play the role of Pete. You offer
what you got to offer for the job and then you get the job really.
Whereabouts in your life did you first consider acting?
It was in School when I was around 13-14, then I went to drama school. I had great tutors
and guidance, they encouraged me to follow acting. I probably would of ended up staying in my hometown of North Wales working in a factory or as a plumber. But they guided me instead and said I have the confidence to do acting so they guided me to various courses and help me with my auditions in drama School.
How would you describe a usual day of filming in Hollyoaks?
It's a very long day. I start from around 7am in the morning until 7pm at night.
You then go into make-up and learn your scripts then you do around 8-10 scenes a day. You're then shooting with the team. You have to do quite a lot of rehearsing in one day.
You maybe even called into a different storyline or episode so you may not be working with the same directors each time. It's great, I enjoy it.
Who are you most closest to behind-the-scenes?
There's quite many of the others who I am very close to. Obviously all the McQueen girls including Zoe Lucker (Reenie McQueen). I am friends with everybody there. They're such a lovely bunch. I also share a flat with Cameron Moore who plays (Cameron Campbell). He's a top guy.
I'm also friends with Jimmy Mckenna (Jack Osborne), Kirsty-Leigh Porter (Leela Lomax).
I would say I'm most closest to the girls Zoe Lucker, Twinnie Moore (Porsche McQueen), Sarah George (Celine McQueen) and of course Nadine Mulkerrine (Cleo McQueen).
If you could be any other character, who would it be/why?
It would certainly be Jack Osborne, I like the fact that he is what he is and I'm enjoying the job so much that I would like to stay for another 20 years like his character although I unfortunately can't.
What are your thoughts on the Gloved Hand Killer storyline?
It's been fantastically gripping. It's been thought and played well. Yes, it's really great.
Would you of expected Lindsey to be the Killer?
I'm not sure to be honest. They were all suspects at the beginning. I remember not knowing who it was which then I finally heard like everybody else did. I was surprised.
I think Sophie Austin (Lindsey Roscoe) is a fantastic actress and she performs it very well. I think she nailed it. It was a brilliant storyline and a brilliant character to play.
Lastly what's next for your character?
My character, Pete has a few more months left in the soap. There is a huge trial coming up where Pete clearly tried to abuse the girls. He's still trying to manipulate Cleo leading up to the arrival of the court case.
